Insurance Brokers Association of Slovenia

Slovene

The initiative group of insurance brokers found the place to establish the Insurance Brokers Association of Slovenia in the framework of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry – Chamber of Small Business and Trade. The initiative for establishing the Association was proposed because of the problems and situations which the insurance brokers experience while performing the insurance brokerage activity on the market, which each of them has to resolve independently, as best they can. Recently, they have been facing legislative changes and other changes in the area of insurance that are outside any relevant influence of an individual.

The initiators for the establishment of the Association see above all the following joint interests of insurance brokers:

  • drafting, forwarding positions and representing interests of the members in the adoption of legislation,
  • drafting, forwarding positions and representing interests of the members in negotiations with other interest groups on the insurance market,
  • co-operation with other related associations, organisations, societies, etc.,
  • exchange of good practices of the members of Association,
  • organisation of education and training events,
  • provision of expert assistance, business information and advice (legislation, training, etc.),
  • protection and representation of interests of the members of the Association.

Insurance brokers wish to be able to resolve their interest more efficiently and so they decided to organise themselves. With the help of Chamber of Commerce and Industry – Chamber of Small Business and Trade, the Insurance Brokers Association of Slovenia wishes to establish a dialogue with other organisations on the insurance market and the competent state bodies and provide better working conditions of insurance brokers with proposals and joint positions.

At the founding meeting, the insurance brokers elected their representatives to present their interests in front of the relevant state bodies and other organisations. They also adopted the Acts that will allow for smooth work of the Association.

All those who joined the Insurance Brokers Association committed themselves to compliance with the Code of Good Business Practices in Insurance Brokerage. Compliance with its provisions will lead to better safety of clients using the services of insurance brokers and improve the quality of insurance brokerage services.

The Chamber of Small Business and Trade (the former Small Business Association) has been operating since 1979. So far, the results have shown that the form of organisation chosen by insurance brokers is what SMEs need in both business and legislative areas.
